As the exile Tibetan community celebrates the release of Dhondup Wangchen, the film maker of 'Leaving Fear Behind', Students for a Free Tibet India Chapter joined the global community in welcoming Wangchen's release after spending six years in Chinese prison, however, remains concerned about his freedom and health.
In an interview with Dorjee Tsetan, SFT Asia Director, who has been active in campaigns for Dhondup Wangchen's safe release said, "Though it is a joyous moment to know he's out of prison, Tibet remains a huge prison under Chinese Communist Party, so we are concerned about his health and safety."
Golog Jigme, Dhondup Wangchen's partner in making 'Leaving Fear Behind' freed few lovebirds to show the joy of his friend's freedom and said, "I was unable to trust the Chinese goverment that I couldn't sleep last night, and was overjoyed to know about his release at 2.30 this afternoon."
The documentary 'Leaving Fear Behind' was later shown to over a hundred people gathered at the Tibetan Day School, Dharamsala, India to remember the work and sacrifices of Dhondup Wangchen.
Golog Jigme urged everyone in exile to actively campaign for the release of all political prisoners inside Tibet with the international entities to put pressure on the Chinese government.
