The Tibet Policy Institute based in Dharamsala, North India in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh University organized a one-day symposium at the Shimla University to mark 100 years of signing the Shimla agreement in 1914.
The symposium was inaugurated by Professor A D N Bajpai, the Vice Chancellor of the University.
Professor Bajpai said that the agreement is a complicated issue and a thorough discussion can't be accomplished in a day’s talk.
"Because of its geographical position, Tibet assumes a crucial significance in the agreement. If Tibet were independent today, India would not be facing the problem that it faces today and the defending the border would not be that costly as it is now," he further added.
