Second Geshema Exam Begins at Dolma Ling Nunnery

The second Geshema exam began at the Dolma Ling Nunnery, Dharamsala, North India on May 1, 2014.

23 nuns are sitting for the second year exam, and 6 for the first year exam.

In an interview with Geshe Rigzin Choedak, who teaches Buddhism at Dolma Ling nunnery, he said that the huge difference in participants compared to last year was mainly because many nuns fulfilling the required criteria took part last year which has left very few for this year.

Few of this year's participants shared their views and reasons for taking part in the Geshema exam with VOA's Tibetan Service.

The second exam is expected to last for 15 days.

The Dolma Ling Nunnery and Institute was officially inaugurated by the Dalai Lama on December 8, 2005.
