The Tibetan Department of Health in exile's head Tsering Wangchuk inaugurated the Therapy Center founded by the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, India on July 22, 2013.
“The Center aims to alleviate disease, while promoting healthy living through herbal medicine, and is established after thorough research performed by the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute since 2009”, said Dr. Tsultrim Kalsang, head of the therapy center.
In an interview with VOA, Dr. Tsewang Tamdin, who is a physician to the Dalai Lama said that he is very happy to see the revival of ancient therapy which remained out of practice for many years. He further added that the therapy is effective for treating various illnesses such as: epilepsy, depression, and blood pressure issues.
The therapy services provided at the TMAI center includes Ku Nye (Medicinal Massage), Dhugs (Compress) , Lums-Chu Lums (Bath Therapy), rLangs Lums (Steam Therapy), and Ching Lum (Wrapping Therapy).
