Ama Adhe spent 27 years in captivity for her part in protests against China. Her story speaks for a generation of Tibetans underwent hardship in the 1950s. Born in 1932 in Eastern Tibet, Ama Adhe lost many of her family during the Tibetan resistance movement. At her release from prison, Ama Adhe was one of only a handful of prisoners that survived long incarceration.
