Chime Dolma grew up as a nomad with no access to education for the first 13 years of her life. In 2003, Chime immigrated to New York and finished high school within 4 years. Chime became one of the first Tibetans to receive the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship, awarded to outstanding students by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Earlier in May, Chime graduated from Middlebury College, a top US college and is now working as a tenth grade teacher at Ashville Preparatory School. Chime talks to VOA about her personal and educational journey.
