Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama met Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi met Tuesday evening in London.Tenzin Taklha, joint secretary at the Dalai Lama's office, said the two Nobel Peace Laureates met privately for about thirty minutes where the Dalai Lama applauded her courage and expressed his joy in meeting her.
According to a post on the Dalai Lama's official website, the spiritual leader told Aung San Suu Kyi, "I have real admiration for your courage. I am very happy we've been able to meet."
The meeting coincided with Suu Kyi’s 67th birthday as she made her first visit to Europe in 24 years. She was freed from house arrest in 2010.
