Two Tibetan students from Ryeson University in Toronto had an opportunity to see the Canadian Parliament up close this summer. They interned at the Parliarment of Canada under Canda's Parliamentary Friends of Tibet Internship program.

Tenzin Kalsang and Tenzin Lhadon were among seven Tibetan students who were placed into different offices of members of the Canadian parliament. Kalsang and Lhadon said they were able to familiarize themselves with workings of the Canadian parliament and that they believe the experience and the network they have built will be beneficial for their career in the future.

Lhadon, who heads a Students for a Free Tibet chapter at her university said her involvement in Tibetan activism might have made her a stronger candidate in the selection pool.

The Parliamentary Friends of Tibet has facilitated three internship programs since 2007 for young Tibetan-Canadian students.
