North Korean state media reported leader Kim Jong Un has been elected to the country's highest legislative body, with 100 percent of the voters in his district turning out for the election and all of them casting their ballot for him.

Voters in Sunday's election for the rubber-stamp Supreme People's Assembly did not get to choose who to vote for, since there was only one candidate for each of the 687 constituencies.

The vote was the first in five years and the first under young leader Kim Jong Un, who can now add member of parliament to his many other titles.

The assembly is the most powerful body under North Korea's constitution, but in reality has little political power.
