A young Tibetan monk was arrested after staging a solo protest in Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in today's Sichuan Province on September 7, 2015.

Venerable Losang Yeshe, Tibet News Coordinator of Ngawa Monastery in Dharamsala, Northern India tells VOA's Tibetan Service that around 3:00pm Tibet time, 19 year old Lobsang Kalsang of Kirti Monastery shouted 'Free Tibet' and called for the long live of the Dalai Lama on the main street of Ngawa.

According to sources, within minutes of the solo protest, Kalsang was arrested by the previously deployed security personals and forced inside a police truck.

Lobsang Kalsang had joined Kirti monastery in his early age and passed the class of Dialectic and Logic manual last year, and is said to be preparing for intensive class of mZod. Last year, Kalsang's roommate and brother was arrested and given a two year prison term each after shouting free Tibet slogans.

Ven. Losang Yeshe added that further information on Lobsang Kalsang's whereabout or condition is currently unavailable.
