Dharamsala Marks 55th Tibetan Democracy Day


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

Thousands of Tibetans gathered at the courtyard of Tsug-lag-khang, main temple in Dharamsala, northern India to take part in the celebrations of the 55th Tibetan Democracy day.

The official function was attended by Maneka Gandhi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Mr. Shanta Kumar, a member and convenor of Indian Parliament as the chief guest. Lobsang Sangay, head of the Tibetan Administration in Exile, and Penpa Tsering, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament were also among the attendees.

The Tibetan Cabinet and Parliament in Exile, in their statement, urged the Tibetans all over the world to take responsibilities in the upcoming election by choosing the right leader and actively particpating in the growth of democracy.

Mr Shanta Kumar, Mrs Maneka Gandhi, and other Indian dignitaries present at the occasion spoke about their support for the Tibetan cause and welfare.
