The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) based in Dharamsala issued a new report on Tibetan nomads titled, "Wasted Lives: A Critical Analysis of China's Campaign to End Tibetan Pastoral Lifeways" and a press conference to launch the book at the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia, New Delhi on May 30, 2015.

The new report was compiled by Gabriel Lafitte, an Australian environmentalist, and published jointly by TCHRD and League for Pastoral Peoples, a German non-profit organization.

While introducing the report, Executive Director of TCHRD Tsering Tsomo said that it contains what Tibetan nomadic pastoralists have spoken about China's policy of removing them to concrete block settlements on urban fringes, where thousands of years of accumulated knowledge of pasture land and livestock breeding becomes useless, redundant and wasted, and also of reports by Chinese and Tibetan researchers disapproving of this improper policy of the Chinese government.

"The main reason for organizing this press conference in Delhi was to garner international support to call for China to reconsider the current "sedentarisation policy" and to launch a concerted effort of nomads from different parts of the world to raise Tibetan nomads issue," added Tsering Tsomo.
