The Dalai Lama was greeted by Tibetans and supporters upon his arrival at the U.S. capital on February 3, 2015.

His two day visit would include a first time public appearance with U.S. President Barack Obama on February 5th at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C.

The National Prayer Breakfast, an annual event held at the Washington Hilton's International Ballroom is attended by over three thousand guests from over 100 countries where the individuals engage in meetings, lunchoens, and dinners.

The White House has announced last week that President Obama would deliver remarks at the prayer breakfast about the importance of religious freedom.

The Dalai Lama is scheduled to attend the prayer gathering. But, just a day before the Dalai Lama’s arrival in Washington, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday, at a daily news conference, China is “opposed to any country meeting the Dalai Lama in any form.” Chinese officials were infuriated when Obama held his third meeting with the Dalai Lama in Washington last February.

According to Dalai Lama’s U.S. Representative Mr. Aukatsang Kaldor, the Dalai Lama will also meet U.S. lawmakers on the Capitol Hill and State Department’s Special Rapporteur on Tibet.
