Dalai Lama Urges Non-violence and Secularism to Indian Students


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།

The Dalai Lama visited the Dayananda Anglo-Vedic Public School Sahibabad, located in Uttar Pradesh state of India on January 27, 2015.

The Dalai Lama in his speech emphasized the importance of religious harmony and the need for different philosophical concepts in a modern education system. He addressed the audience of over 3000 school children on applying basic inner values to enhance happiness.

The school run by Hindu Education Society founded by Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, who stresses on learning Vedas (sacred Hindu religious scripture) as supposed to ritualistic practices has around 5500 students.

The chairman of the society Professor A K Sharma presented a copy of Vedas to the Dalai Lama.
