The Dalai Lama visited the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital located in New Delhi, India in response to an invitation extended by the director, H K Kar and members of the faculty on January 20, 2015.

After seeing different departments at the hospital, the Dalai Lama delivered a talk on 'promotion of human values in the interest of human happiness and the fostering of inter-religious harmony' to a crowd of around 1000 including doctors, nurses, and students.

The facility was formerly known as the Willington Hospital, and later renamed as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, as a tribute to Lohia, who was a renowned socialist leader of India and a great supporter of the Tibetan cause.

There are currently 4 Tibetan nurses and 19 nursing students enrolled at the hospital.
