The National Democratic Party of Tibet commemorated its 20th founding anniversary with a talk on democracy by Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, former Kalon Tripa; Kirti Rinpoche, former minister of Tibetan administration in exile; and Mr Vijay Singh Mankotia, former minister of Tourism, Himachal Pradesh.
The function was attended by around 200 people including Tibetan Parliamentarians, former executive members of NDPT, and representatives of various NGOs.
NDPT President and General Secretary read out the statement of the day in English and Tibetan, which highlighted the work done by the party thus far, and its call for youth to take responsibilities in promoting constructive democracy.
Mr.Vijay Singh Mankotia highlighted four characteristics of Democracy and must haves in its leaders. Kirti Rinpoche spoke on pros and cons of development of Tibetan Democracy, while Samdhong Rinpoche talked about Law and Democracy.
The National Democratic Party of Tibet was established as a political party by the Tibetan Youth Congress on September 2, 1994. The party currently has 35 regional chapters with 5000 members.
