Hundreds of Tibetans gathered at the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute (TMAI) College Hall, Dharamsala, India to inaugurate a Chinese Section under their Cultural Department on July 15, 2014.
Tsering Tashi, Director of TMAI said that setting up of the Chinese section has been a vision of the Dalai Lama, and its primary goal was to outreach and exchange knowledge on Medicine and Astrology with Chinese.
The section based in TMAI Chauntra, about 80 Kms from Dharamsala has two doctors as regular staff and three more doctors to overview their work.
Choelo Thar, Director of the new section, gave a brief introduction in Chinese and Tibetan at the gathering and shared their future plans.
Shosur Sonam Choephel, Secretary of Health Department, CTA, who was the chief guest of the event praised the performance of TMAI within the last couple of years, and urged the new section to stress on the quality of work.
