Dharamsala Holds Tibetan Settlement Officer Candidate Debate


ཐད་ཀར་ཕབ་ལེན་གྱི་དྲ་འབྲེལ།


The National Democratic Party for Tibet (NDPT) held a debate among the three candidates in their mandate for the upcoming Dharamsala Tibetan settlement officer's election in Dharamsala, North India on June 1, 2014.

The three candidates were as follows: Sonam Dorjee, the present Dharamsala settlement officer; Dawa Rinchen, a businessman who runs Tibet Tours and Travels; and Tenzin Dolma, local assembly member of Dharamsala and former Regional Tibetan Women Association President.

The candidates shared their views and plans for the next three years if they get elected as the Tibetan settlement officer of Dharamsala.

The preliminary and final election will be held on June 12 and June 24, 2014 respectively.

With over 5,000 members in 36 regional chapters within the Tibetan exile community in India, Nepal, and Bhutan, the National Democracy Party of Tibet was originally founded on September 2, 1994.
