On the occasion of Buddha Poornima, the Department of Post, Ministry of Communication and IT, Government of India released a commemorative stamp on the Drukpa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, a prominent Buddhist lineage in the Indian Himalayas.

The commemorative stamp celebrating the 999 years of Drukpa Lineage (refers to year of Naropa's birth i.e.1016) was released by Mr. SK Sinha, Member (HRD), Department of Post in the presence of Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche, spiritual head of Drukpa Lineage, and Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, spiritual regent of the lineage, at the Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi.

The postage stamp bears the image of Hemis monastery in Ladakh, the main monastery of Drukpa Lineage in India.
