Tibetans in Dharamsala today celebrated the100th anniversary of the declaration of independence by the 13rd Dalai Lama.
Students for a Free Tibet in India marked the day with exhibitions displaying Tibet's historical status following a speech on the importance of the declaration made on Feb. 13, 1913 that initiated a period of self-rule after the fall of Manchu domination.
Tibetans in more than 30 cities around the world have organized events to commemorate the day.
President of the SFT India said "Global commemoration of this historic occassion will help renew our spirit, reaffirm our vision and strengthen our struggle."
