The Dalai Lama today began a 4-day teaching on Shantideva's "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life" in Varanasi.
Over 6000 devotees including around 100 Tibetans from Tibet gathered at Sarnath to receive the Tibetan buddhist leader's teachings.
Theravada monks of Mahabodhi Society in Sarnath started the teachings with recitation of auspicious verses in Pali.
The Dalai Lama arrived in Varanasi from Patna, where he had gone to attended three-day international Buddhist convention.
He stressed on the need of educating the youth on the value of love, kindness and compassion by through institutional education system.
