Dalai Lama Inaugurates World Meet for Peace and Harmony in Delhi

The Dalai Lama today inaugurated the World Meet For Peace and Harmony organized by Ramakrishna Ashram in New Delhi. The 2-day convention is being held to remember Swami Vivekananda, a renowned Hindu scholar and teacher, on his 150th birth anniversary.

The Tibetan spiritual leader addressed the gathering by commending India for it's religious harmony.

"All these major religious traditions live together in this country. So, I always tell people that India is the example of religious harmony," said the Dalai Lama.

He praised Ramakrishna Ashram for the examplary works on education in India.

"I feel, proper way to promote compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, is through education."

Former President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Around 100 participants and 30 scholars are attending the two-day convention in New Delhi.

On September 10, 2012, the Dalai Lama participated the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Central Tibetan Schools Administration. Mr. Kapil Sibal, Education Minister and Tibetan Prime Minister Sangay were among the guests of the celebration.
