The Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) today announced resume of the indefinite hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

At a welcome gathering held for the hunger strikers who were released Thursday, Joint secretary Tenzin Norsang announced the continuation of hunger strike and expressed disappointment of the harsh treatment given to the hunger strikers by the Indian authorities.

"TYC is hurt and disappointed with the way Indian Government treated them by causing physical injury" said Tenzin Norsang.

TYC hunger strikers who were arrested and sent to Tihar jail on Tuesday were released yesterday. Around 30 youth activists who were arrested for protesting in front of the residence of Indian Prime Minister were also released.

The TYC hunger strikers spoke of the harsh treament they met from Delhi police. Dhondup Lhadar, TYC's vice president lost two teeth and had his mouth and tongue cut, causing massive bleeding, when the police took him to Tihar jail.

The culture secretary Jigme Sholpa said Delhi police rejected requests for medical help for the injured.

"Inspite of our request, they ignored us and did not provide any medical help," said Jigme.

Dhondup Lhadar, TYC 's Vice president has lost 7 kilograms and Penpa Tsering and Jigme Sholpa had each lost 5 kilograms.

Konchok Yarphel urged all Tibetans in Delhi to come to Jantar Mantar to show their support and solidarity with the TYC hunger strikers.

All the Tibetan youth members you have done fabulous job for the course of your Nation.We all are very proud of you all and keep it up'.We all are very vvvvvvvvvvvvvv upset by the Delhi Police deeds as they have treated them like the Chinese who were treating our Tibetan brothers and sisters in Tibet.We will have time one day that our Tibet will be Free and then we will definitely repay these kind deeds to all those people who have acted CHAMCHAS to Chinese Authorities understand? You better understand'.
