Dhompa Kyi, 54, is on a four-day total hunger strike in front of Tsuklag-Khang in Dharamsala to call on the United Nations to help solve the problems in Tibet. She has stated five appeals to the world body and launched her action on September 2nd, which is also considered Tibetan Democracy Day.

Mrs. Kyi undertook a peace march from Dharamsala to Lhasa with her son and daughter in March, 2012, which lasted for two months before finally being stopped at the Nepal Border by local authorities. Upon returning to Dharamsala in May, she undertook her first hunger strike which stated the same demands as that of the peace march, and pledged to continue the strike action from time to time till her demands are fulfilled.

On the third day of her total hunger strike, which involves not eating or drinking, Mrs. Kyi said that  she felt that she was in ‘good condition’ except for some pain in her leg.

She said that she plans to conclude her four-day hunger strike this evening with a candle light vigil, and that she is committed to continue her protest action in the future.
