Malaria Might Spread to Higher Elevations Due to Global Warming

The World Bank warns that global warming will push 100 million more people into poverty across the globe in the next 15 years. The report also pointed out that more people could be at risk from malaria, diarrhea, and growth stunting. The connection between the global warming and malaria has been suspected in other studies. According to Medical News Today, researchers last year presented the evidence that the disease climbs to the higher elevations during the warmer years. Today mosquitos are found in the Himalayas and Tibet Plateau, including the Tibetan capitol Lhasa for the first time, which might also be a warning sign of the disease might climb to higher elevations.
