Coinciding with the Dalai Lama’s upcoming 80th birthday, Vermont based Tibetan Kalsang Ggt has started a campaign in the United States Congress and Vermont State Legislature for Tibet. Kalsang wants the Congress and the White House to acknowledge the Dalai Lama’s contribution for world peace, non-violence, and religious harmony and pressure China to allow the Dalai Lama to return to his native village Taktser, Amdo after 56 years in exile. He initiated the campaign on this year’s Tibetan New year, Losar and over the past few weeks has visited over hundred offices of sitting U.S congressman, congresswomen, and a number of high profile state leaders. Table Talk invites Kalsang Ggt to discuss the reasons behind starting this initiative and the results he expects from this personal initiative.
