Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay and Buddhist nun Tenzin Palmo inaugurated Tibetan Traditional Thangka painting school in Dharamsala.

Kalsang Dhamchoe, founder and director of Kalsang Thanga Painting School has trained more than 22 students in the past 10 years in traditioinal Tibetan silk painting with embroidery. Works of his students were on display during the opening ceremony.

Prime Minister Sangay praised Kalsang Damchoe's iniative in starting the school and urged all students work hard. Ani Tenzin Palmo expressed at happiness helping set up the school where young artists would learn old traditional arts.

Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, the vice speaker of Tibetan Parliament in exile commended Mr. Kalsang's initiative in preservation of an important Tibetan tradition.

Kalsang Damchoe spoke about his plans to make thangkas for the Tibetans who have set themselves on fire in China protest.

About four hundred people attended the ceremony held at the Club house in Dharamsala.
