Dalai Lama To Visit Connecticut In October


The Dalai Lama is scheduled to speak at Western Connecticut State University and the Do Ngak Kunphen Ling – the Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace in Redding on on Oct. 18 and 19. Western Connecticut University President James W. Schmotter said that the event is an ‘’auspicious day’’ for the university. ‘’This is really exciting, both for the university and the community’’, Schomotter said Tuesday.

The Dalai Lama’s talks on campus will be preceded by a series of events tied to Tibetan history, culture and spirituality. ‘’It will be what we view as a learning theme here’’, Schomotter said. Representative Lobsang Nyandak, Office of Tibet, New York said “His Holiness has become more energized over the years by his passionate commitment to promote the inner human values……he especially focuses on educational institutions throughout the world, and reaches out to young people so that, through education, we can improve the human values in our society, in order to make the world a better place’’.
