Tibetan stringer Tsering Migmar reported that Dr. Lobsang Wangyal died on Sunday in Dharmsala. He was 83. Dr. Wangyal served as the senior personal physician to the Dalai Lama since 1980s and was well known within the Tibetan community for his outpatient clinic and his work with the Tibetan Medical Institute in Dharamsala. He joined the famous Lhasa Tibetan Medical College in 1935 and graduated with honors. He also spent seven years in prison for taking part in Tibetan pro-independence demonstrations in Tibet.
