A Tibetan monk has set himself on fire to protest China's repressive policies towards Tibetans.

Jamyang Losel, 29, from Gyerthang monastery has succumbed to his burns following the self-immolation protest in Chentsa County, Malho Prefecture, Qinghai Province on May 19, 2017.

Sources confirming the protest say that the local authorities arrived at the scene within minutes and confiscated the young monk's body. The body has not been returned to the family despite their pleading at the local police station.
