Dharamsala Celebrates 56th Democracy Day

Hundreds of Tibetans gathered in the courtyard of Tsuklagkhang, the main temple in Dharamsala, northern India to celebrate and mark the 56th Tibetan Democracy Day on September 2.

Mr. Mukut Mithi, Rajya Sabha Member and Former Chief Minister of Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and Dr. Arun Kumar, MP of Indian Parliament were among the attendees as the chief guest and special guest of the event, where they shared their support towards the Tibetan cause.

Dr. Lobsang Sangay, head of the Central Tibetan Administration and Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of Tibetan Parliment in Exile read out the official statement of the Kashag (cabinet) and Parliament on the 56th Democracy Day.

The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts based in Dharamsala and students from Tibetan schools performed cultural songs and dances in celebration of the day.
