Tibetans and Supporters Celebrate Dalai Lama's Birthday in Russia


Tibetans, Buddhists, and followers of the Dalai Lama celebrated his 79th birthday in several cities of the Russian Federation on July 6, 2014.

In Moscow, capital city of Russia, the official ceremony started with long life prayers for the Dalai Lama, followed by dance and songs by several Russian performing artists, and Tibetan dances by students of Dzogchen Center.

Dr. Andrey Terentyev, Scholar and Chief Editor of Russian Journal of Buddhism, who was the guest speaker at the event addressed the public gathering.

Prayers and celebration were also held in Ulan Ude, the capital of Buryat Republic; Elista, the capital of Kalmyk Republic; Kyzyl, the capital of Tuva Republic; St. Petersburg Aryadeva Buddhist Center, among many others.
